Beloved Substackers, I come before you a woman spent.
With all sincerity of heart, I want this weekly email to be worth your time. You offer me the generosity of one Saturday morning inbox slot of incalculable value and our unspoken agreement is that in exchange I will assemble together words that might make you think, or feel, or rest, or imagine, or act — or do none of those things in actuality but could hypothetically so you keep opening them just in case. That’s fine; it’s enough for me.
But sometimes a girl just gets tired. (Especially at 9:29pm the night before.) So sometimes (and by that I mean this time), a girl’s gotta phone it in.
So without further ado, let’s just hammer out the 411, whaddya say?
FutureChurch Event
I hope you’ll tune in this TUESDAY NIGHT (7pm ET) as I present on my book, Feminist Prayers for My Daughter at a virtual event hosted by FutureChurch.
I’ll be sharing the backstory behind the book, reading a few prayers aloud, answering questions, and offering a simple spiritual practice. It would mean a lot to me to see you there!
Register here.
Personal Update
Hey remember that time I almost died and then didn’t really ever say anything about it again? Sorry ‘bout that! Yesterday I posted a health update on Instagram for anyone interested. You can click the IG photo (above) to find it.
Bet ya didn’t know that Monday is National Daughter’s Day! (because honestly, who would know that?) Anyway it’s a great time to nab this book. I guess if you want it on Monday you’ll need to go the Amazon route.
Edits are due for my next book on October 1. If you’re so inclined, I’d be happy to be on the receiving end of any prayers for clarity, articulation, and enough caffeine to get off my butt and actually do it — preferably before 9:29pm the night before.
Wishing you love and joy and all good things,
Shannon
